Taipei, Dec. 8, 2009 (CENS)--MiTAC International Corp., a globally leading supplier of GPS (global positioning system) devices under own-brand Mio, declares that its U.S.-based subsidiary Magellan has started offering iPhone GPS apps, which are coordinated with Magellan`s database of maps covering areas within North America, as a way into the segment for GPS apps.

After spending US$96 million acquiring Magellan this January, MiTAC has effectively pushed up its share to over 10% as the third-largest supplier with Mio and Magellan-branded GPS devices in the U.S. market, only trailing Garmin and TomTom. Institutional investors indicated that Magellan`s launch of iPhone GPS apps will likely help MiTAC to improve its gross profit rate to a level of 10% in the fourth quarter of this year.

MiTAC is engaged in production of GPS devices, PNDs (personal navigation devices), servers and computers, and known as the largest manufacturer of PNDs in Taiwan, with GPS and PND manufacturing
