Acer tops the charts in desktop category
HYDERABAD: Acer India topped desktop segment with a market share of 13.2per cent per cent in the fourth quarter of 2011 calendar year, according to IT market research and advisory firm IDC’s report. Acer registered a growth of 5.2 per cent, quarter on quarter, (QoQ) basis and also a growth rate of 19.4 per cent, year on year.
Acer also became the leader in Mini-Notebook/ Netbook vendor in India for four consecutive quarters, with a market share of 42.2 per cent in last quarter of 2011 (calendar year).
The desktop marked had tough macro-economic challenges in 2011 with the dollar fluctuation and hard disk drive shortage. However, Acer continued to maintain its position by sizeable wins from the government, large private corporate and the education segment.
