How much does it does it cost to install a plasma tv 50" on the wall. Can we do it by ourselves.?
[2007-10-22 11:41:52]

Q: I recently bought a panasonic 50" plasma tv. and thought that i will wallmount it by myself. but when i try to look at the back of the tv i do not see any screws where i can hook the wallmount. Can someone help.

A: Yes, you can do it yourself. It's not difficult, if you make sure you have the correct wall mount. The written instructions that came with your Panasonic show you exactly where the mounting holes are on the back of the set! Follow that and the directions for the mount. Note that you will be mounting around 92 pounds in the Panasonic, so make sure your mounting bracket is attached to the wall studs.

How to Mount 50" Plasma TV on a Concrete Wall?!?
[2007-08-27 18:01:54]
[36]

I recently bought this TV that weighs about 120 lbs 50" plasma tv. the thing is.. the tv sits too low from the ground which is annoying.. so i decided to mount it on our concrete wall (i live on a apt.) no choice since i cant move around my furniture, but im afraid ill ripped the whole wall off even if i put in anchors. any pro people out there??? thanks.

I'm rather surprised you don't know about wall mounts for plasma TVs.

They are available where ever the TVs are sold.

Use concrete anchors, and the bolts that will fit them.
We call them 'drop in's' on the job site.

No need to go bigger than the openings in the wall mount bracket.
Just guessing, your bracket opening will require 3/8, 7/16, or even 1/2" drop in's and the bolts to fit the drop in's

Your little TV will not tear the wall down, but you still may need to tell the landlord your intentions.
You may have to do something with the holes to get your deposit back when you move.

Pioneer Exits TV Business, Vizio to Stop Selling Plasma TVs

It’s always hard to say goodbye. Specially if its with someone that has made a big impact in our lives. Well, its going to be hard but we have to do it. Pioneer Electronics, in tune to the world’s economic problems, has announced that it will exit the TV business by March 2010, cut 10,000 jobs worldwide (6,000 full-time employees worldwide and 4,000 temporary workers) and center on car electronics and other home electronics businesses.

Pioneer made the announcement as it posted operating and net losses, as well as lower sales, for its fiscal third quarter, ended Dec. 31, and is projecting a record net loss of 130 billion yen, or $1.44 billion, for its fiscal year ending March 31.

The company said it will continue to provide after-sales services even after the withdrawal from the market. In its home electronics business Pioneer will center on audio products, DJ equipment and cable TV set-top boxes and will emphasize sound as they take advantage of our extensive audio technologies and expertise developed over the years.

To date, the company’s Kuro line of HDTVs were widely regarded as the best-in-class plasma displays available.

However, it’s not just Pioneer. To a lesser extent, Vizio, the Southern California-based upstart that’s built a successful business selling relatively inexpensive HDTVs, will stop selling plasma TVs and focus on LCD sets. The news is the second blow this week for plasma proponents.

As The New York Times points out, the departure of Pioneer and Vizio leaves just three major players in the U.S. plasma TV market: LG, Panasonic, and Samsung. Given consumers’ overwhelming preference for LCD models, Vizio’s decision to ditch plasma isn’t too surprising. According to industry researcher Display Search, LCD outsells plasma by a 7 to 1 margin. And since Vizio’s current product lineup on its website shows just 5 plasma versus 20 LCD models, the change shouldn’t prove too jarring for its customers.

Panasonic TX-P65 V10 Plasma TV

Written by gadget

This plasma HDTV from Panasonic is part of the new NeoPDP range of displays which utilise 600Hz refresh rates for complete elimination of any blurring or image ghosting. The V10 comes with built-in freesat connectivity for free-to-air satellite channels and is also compatible with freesat HD broadcasts to make the most of the full HD 1080p resolution.

The TX-P65 V10 is gifted with VIERA imaging technology, which Panasonic claims will allow this plasma display to produce a huge pallet of colours for the richest image you will be able to experience at home. Since this is a plasma TV it will also provide you will the best contrast ratio available, making deep, dark blacks look just as they were intended.

The V10 has already received good reviews and recommendations from several respected publications, although its relatively short time on the market means that more praise is likely to be coming its way in the future. As with all VIERA devices produced by Panasonic you can use the VIERA Link capabilities to control all of your home cinema components with a single remote, so sticking with Panasonic throughout your living room can be a sensible idea.

What 50" plasma TV is best for watching sports?
[2008-09-09 18:56:35]
Alphason Stand

I am looking for a 50" plasma TV which will mainly be used for watching sports. My research has led me to believe plasma will be better than LCD for sports. Looking at ratings and the actual TVs I have narrowed my choices down to the Panasonic TH-50PZ800U and the Samsung PN50A550. Any recommendations out of these or other models?

I don't understand what research leads people to the Samsung PN50A550. Have you seen this TV? I have and it is ghastly! It is the worse plasma TV on the market in terms of picture quality. The PN50A650 from Samsung is superior to the A550 if you want a Samsung. The A550 has no brightness, no contrast and very little color saturation. If this was the best offering in plasma, I could never advise a customer to buy plasma. But fortunately this is not true.

The Panasonic is the best of the best. CNET has listed the TH-50PZ800U as the best new TV of 2008. Better than the Pioneer plasma TVs. Better than the Samsung DLPs. Better than the best LCD TV from Samsung. If you are looking for an compromised picture quality from the most reliable TV manufacturer with the best customer service, then hands down Panasonic is the winner.

Shoulld I have my new Panasonic Plasma 50" tv ISF calibrated?
[2008-07-07 08:34:24]
ikea living room

So I purchased the TH-50PZ85U Panasonic 50" Plasma tv and I'm reading about getting your plasma tv settings calibrated. ISF (Imaging Science Foundation) technitions are supposed to be some ubber qualified people to come to your home, at quite the expence, and adjust your tvs visual settings to get the best picture possible. If its really a big difference I'd be willing to pay the $300-$400 to have it done.

The service is in fact worth it.

1) Plasma televisions usually run about 17,500 degrees Kelvin on the inside. After an ISF calibration it will run about 6,500 degrees kelvin. This not only reduces the amount of electricity use to power your television it will increase the life of your tv and reduce the incidence of failure.

2) When a TV leaves the manufacturer, they don't know which television is going to be put on display at Best Buy and Circuit City or wherever, so the manufacturer sets all of their tvs so the blues are really rich and vibrant and the reds really pop out at you. The manufacturers know that these are the most attractive color to the human eye and that the television that has these colors most prominently displayed will be noticed by the customers. However, this will affect not only the color accuracy, but the definition of the image.

To test this out find a dvd with an image with a white background, then hold...
