plasma tv?

Q: I am planning on buying a Vizio plasma tv and i don't have HD cable. Will my picture look like crap or will it look the same as a regular TV? also will playing my x box 360 mess up the plasma TV or not?
is 60,000 hr screen life good? 30,000 to 1 ratio good? is 1024x720 good? i don't know anything about these #'s so please explain.

A: Hi - I'm a gamer too and not to be critical, but your first mistake is buying a Vizio.

Yeah, I know they're cheap. But there's a reason why. I use to work in the trade industry up till last year and I have personally dealt with Vizio (from their American corporate offices in Irvine, Ca and around the City of Industry near Los Angeles).

You gaming will look less than great because you're playing it ona substandard television that is KNOWN to fail within 6 months (I went to Vizio's return warehouse - all 3 of them - in City of Industry and saw 60 foot stacks of there televisions, all returned from Costco).

Don't buy a Vizio. Yes I truly understand they are less expensive, but go with a 1080P Samsung, LG, or Sony. You're gaming experience will be superior. They all have "gaming" modes on there televisions to ensure smooth pixel translations from a PS3 or Xbox (not the Wii - the Wii is old...

How do you get a Plasma TV set to show a regular tv program so that it's crisp and clear, and not blurry?
[2007-08-23 09:20:05]
Privates TV Channels Logos

We are thinking of getting a Plasma TV, but have held off because every time we've seen a friend's plasma, or just gone in an electronics store....the plasma tv's are always pixelated and show an un-clear image of a tv show.

I know if we get say ESPN HD, we'll have a great image. But why is it, that if you watch a regular NBC show on your plasma, it's a worse image than if you watched it on your Tube tv?

And is there a way so that non-hd shows appear nice and crisp on your plasma? Is the only way to watch and make a 4:3 tv show clear and crisp, by putting those letterhead bars on the side of the plasma tv?

Last question, which gives you the best resolution, Plasma, LCD or DLP? Which is the way to go?

I'm guessing you're talking about watching a channel in your non-HD channel line up.
On my HD TV you can change the resolution on the non-HD shows back to that of a tube TV and I get the bars on each side and they look better. However, try watching even non-HD shows on their HD channel, they are usually better quality because they are broadcasted digitally.
And I have no idea about what kind of TV is the best resolution, I hate my plasma, these two annoying lines keep running up every once in a while and I can't get rid of them

VOTE: MP claimed for £600 plasma TV on expenses The Bolton News

Mr Crausby, who represents Bolton North East, spent £799 at a Comet store buying the TV, a stand and cables in February.

The receipts appear to show Mr Crausby received a free DVD player as part of the entertainment package.

Other claims included in his 2008/09 ACA are £29.99 for a Freeview box, £25.99 for a kettle, £251 for bedding and lamps from TK Maxx and a £419 dishwasher last December.

Last night, Mr Crausby said Sir Thomas Legg, who was tasked with looking at politicians’ individual expenses claims, had said he had no case to answer.

He said: “Sir Thomas looked at them and said everything was OK. This is the last period of the old system, which I have already said was poor.

“The new expenses system is very clear and there is no allowance for home improvements. Now we need to start getting legislation through Parliament to ensure we have a system which is fair and just.”

Bolton West MP Ruth Kelly’s receipts showed she claimed almost £200 for gardening, £58 for a set of bedding and £150 for cleaning.

Is it safe to put a plasma TV 1 to 2 feet away from a radiator?
[2008-09-15 12:58:28]
dec09 152

The plasma TV will be on a separate TV stand next to (not on top) of the radiator (which is covered). The distance between the TV and radiator will be about 1 to 2 feet. Is that ok or will it damage the plasma?

It may shorten the life of the tv with more heating of the electronic components - the warmer they run the harder it is on them and plasmas already run warmer than any other type of tv. If possible put it further away or put something else between the tv and the radiator to block the heat as much as possible, or maybe run a small fan toward it to circulate the warm air more.
