I have a TI-30XA scientific calculator and it ran out of batteries. I was wondering if anyone knew what type of battery it was, where I could find it, and how much it costs.

1. Remove slide cover. Place calculator face down.
2. Using a small Phillips screwdriver, remove screws
from back case.
3. Remove back case.
4. Remove discharged batteries.
Caution: Avoid contact with other calculator
components while changing batteries.
5. Install new batteries positive side up, as shown on
diagram inside case.
6. Replace back case, and then replace screws.
7. Press } | |.
Caution: Dispose of old batteries properly. Do not
incinerate batteries or leave where a child can find
them.
Your calculator cannot hold data in memory when
batteries are removed or become discharged.

This isn’t to say that Wolfram Alpha is satisfied staying outside of the classroom.

General business administration and pre-law freshman Jasmin Haynes said she believes Wolfram Alpha’s move to the portable world could be a step toward becoming the new scientific calculator.

“I think it could become the next big scientific calculator because it’s like a scientific calculator times 10,” Haynes said. “With TI-83s and TI-84s, you can put programs in there, but with Wolfram, the programs are already there. People are looking for something where we don’t have to plug in the calculator and wait for programs to download.”

Said Hamideh, academic outreach team lead for Wolfram Research, said discovering Wolfram Alpha could lead to student savings on calculators.

“I already know that our functionality greatly outstrips that of a scientific calculator,” Hamideh said. “People don’t know that and don’t realize that and they continue to buy calculators when they can use the free Safari version on their iPhone if they don’t want to pay for the optimized version.”

I have a 10-Digit scientific calculator and when I type in a decimal number like 1.6 it rounds it off to 2. Is there anyway i can stop it from doing that?
I have a 10-Digit scientific calculator (from staples) It rounds off decimal numbers e.g. if i type something like 3.14 x 6 it rounds off 3.14 to 3 giving a rounded off answer(which isnt very good for me)Í dont have the manual anymore and it didnt round off number before.
Any ideas how i can keep it from rounding off the numbers?

Evidently, you need to adjust the
value for the number of digits you want to have
displayed in an answer. Most such calculators
keep 10-15 digits for numbers that are entered
and used in a calculation, but allow you to decide
how many significant digits you want to have displayed.
