what is the best sight to order a custom gaming computer from? for cheap?
[2008-04-21 11:35:47]

Q: I don't want to spend more than $800, but I'm looking for an intel gaming computer that I can custom up to $800 with the best specs for the price.
can you guys checkout cyberpowerpc.com and tell me what you think if I ordered something off of that sight, other than that I can't find a sight that could help me.

A: Cyberpowerpc is a great site, in terms of the builds they offer. Biggamingrigs.com is very good as well. You might also give Magic Micro a shot.

If you're building from scratch, then NewEgg.com has the best prices on components, usually a bit better than Tigerdirect.

I want to build a custom computer and I need some suggestions on what kind of hardware im going to need. Its going to be intel based. I want to spend $700 maybe $750. I need parts that will work together, are cheap and will offer a great gaming experience. I want the MOST for my money. Please only list parts that you KNOW will work together. Any suggestions and opinions are greatly appreciated!

It depends on what Mother board, CPU you plan to use.

Origin PC launches: custom gaming PCs make a comeback DVICE

It was with heavy hearts that hardcore PC gamers learned that Alienware was being bought by Dell back in 2006. Many feared that the company's approach to custom building gaming PCs would get diluted by a corporation that needed to satisfy its shareholders. At least one of Alienware's founders, Kevin Wasielewski, thought so, and he left to start his own boutique gaming-computer company, Origin.

Today Origin unveils its first products, a laptop and a desktop. The laptop, called the Eon18 has an 18.4" screen, dual Dual Nvidia GeForceGTX 280M graphics processors, and up to three 160GB SSDs for storage. It starts at $2,600.

Called the Genesis, the desktop has a processor is described as thus: "Up to Intel Core i7 Extreme Edition 975 Overclocked to 4.2GHz LGA 1366 Quad-Core." I'm not entirely sure what all that means, but it sounds badass. The Genesis starts at $1,700, though Wasielewski says the average price would be more around $4,500. Of course, both models give you customization options galore (more details after the jump).

What is a fast custom gaming computer under 500 dollars?
[2008-11-27 11:34:15]

I am only looking for the parts because i want to make it myself.

if it is under 500 dollars u will be unable to make it very fast, but best parts onthat kind of budget are
video card: nvidia 8800 series (8600 is k if you cant afford 8800)
cpu: any dual core 2.5 GHz and up (pentium D's are real cheap)
ram: any ram as long as you have 2-4 GB
those are the parts that matter everything else is up to you
also for psu you will need about 500W

In a custom gaming computer, is the Cache important?
[2007-10-19 10:02:11]

I dont know whether to select the 250GB HD with 8M Cache or the 300GB HD with 16M Cache... Any ideas? Is the cache important for gaming?

The more cache you have the faster the system can operate. The CPU is way faster than a hard drive's access speed so it basically has to wait on the drive. If you can cache information then the CPU doesn't have to wait on the drive speed to recover it. In gaming, anything you can do to improve system speed, i.e. more RAM, more cache, faster CPU will all work to improve system response and thereby improve the quality of the gaming experience.
