New iPad 3 cases suggest thicker Apple tablet for retina display screen
Chinese manufacturer Chinee has started selling devices designed for the 'iPad 2s' measuring 1mm thicker than the iPad 2.
A source at the company indicated the new specifications were offered by someone from Apple and have added traction to the rumours that the latest iPad will be thicker than its predecessor.
The S added to the end of the name suggests a change in the internal specification of the device rather than a new design, as with the iPhone 4S, 9 to 5 Mac reported.
Case manufacturers have been known to get their predictions wrong, with a number producing iPhone5 cases last year for a thinner, taller and wider device.
However, the site predicts that with the specification tallying with the rumours about the iPad 3, they are likely to be correct.
New features on the eagerly-anticipated tablet are set to include LTE facilities, Siri support and a Retina display.
iLounge recently claimed to have seen the casing for the iPad 3 - although not the screen itself - at the Consumer Electronics Show and said the similarities with the iPad 2 are uncanny.
