iPod Classic?
[2008-07-02 15:48:52]

Q: Hi everyone! Today, I'd like to ask you all a few things about the new iPod Classic. I'm planning to purchase one in September.

If you could talk about one or all of these points, it'd really help me out.

- Does it scratch and mark up easily?
- How is the battery life?
- Do you find it easy to use?
- Is it hard getting the most out of movies when you're watching it on the iPod Classic?

A: I wouldnt get the ipod classic, because it contains a hard drive. The thing is if you shake it too much it could break. i would recommend getting the ipod nano or the touch because they have flash memory instead of hard drives.

What is the difference between the Ipod classic and Ipod video?

Vista Sticker

Dude its like the exact same thing isn't it. Except the ipod classic has the half screen thing. Should I trade in my Ipod video 30gb for an ipod classic. If so, why is the classic so much better.

All iPods (except the shuffle, of course) now play video, so there is no longer any reason to distinguish the iPod classic as a video-playing iPod.

Your iPod video occupied the same place in the iPod product matrix as the new iPod classic. They are essentially different versions of the same product. The iPod classic is just newer, slimmer, higher-capacity, and has a less-glossy but very attractive finish. It also has a 6G interface, which sports CoverFlow and some visual enhancements.

The iPod classic comes in 80GB and 160GB configurations: it's designed to be big enough to (in principle) support ALL your photos, music, podcasts, video podcasts, and several full-length movies at once. Compare the 80GB iPod classic to the next-biggest iPod Apple sells, the iPod touch in 16GB or the iPod nano in 8GB---it's a huge difference.

I can see no downside to upgrading from a 30GB iPod video to an 80GB or 160GB iPod classic, unless you...

Gadget Gifts for the 2009 Holiday Season The American Lawyer

This holiday season may not bring us any revolutionary new gadget (no Apple tablet -- yet), but some existing products are getting significant updates or new accessories that boost their performance. Heck, even Microsoft now has a media player that you can call stylish while keeping a straight face. Here are some of the most noteworthy new offerings -- year-end purchases that, in most cases, won't eat up a year-end bonus.

Sony PSP Go (Sony Computer Entertainment America Inc., $250). When it was announced earlier this year, the PSP Go garnered the last thing a marketing department wants: head-scratching. And little wonder. Here was a redesign of a product that never really met expectations -- Sony's $170 PlayStation Portable -- yet was more expensive, with less functionality, than its predecessor. In the blogosphere, the technical term was: Huh?

To shrink the bulky PSP down to an iPhone-like size, Sony had to get rid of the unit's optical drive and choose a download-only delivery model for games, movies, and TV shows (to store them, Sony added 16 gigabytes of flash memory). That approach has been a gold mine for Apple, but Sony's problem was that millions of discs (called UMDs) were already out there, and they'd all be useless on the Go. Making matters worse, the company declined to let existing PSP owners download free copies of games they already owned. So if you had a disc of "Need for Speed" and wanted to play it on your new PSP Go, you had to buy a digital copy, at full price -- not a great way to reward customer loyalty.

Should I wait for the iPod Classic 7th Generation to be released to buy an iPod?

I currently have a 2nd Generation iPod Nano with 4GB. I ran out of space and I need to buy a new iPod. When do you think the new iPod classic will be released? Is it worth the wait, or should I just buy a 6th Generation?
Also, I'm planning to buy this in a few months when I will have extra money. My friend said that perhaps the 7th generation will come out sooner because of problems with the 6th.

i have an ipod touch 32gb. it is pretty awesome. but if you only want the classic. they just came out with the new one like four months ago. i think that you should go ahead and buy the 6th generation
